Where does Hyperlocal's school data come from?

School data is one of the most consequential signals on the site, so it's also the most carefully scoped. Different cities work differently and we don't pretend otherwise.

Melbourne is heavily public-school catchment driven. The Victorian state system zones each public school to a specific catchment area; addresses outside the zone don't get guaranteed entry, and houses inside the zone trade at an 8–18% premium over equivalent properties on the wrong side of the line. Our rankings reference Better Education's league data and historical VCE results, with year-over-year deltas where the trend has moved.

Hyderabad doesn't use public-school zoning the same way. Schooling is curriculum-led — parents pick a school by board (CBSE / ICSE / IB / State) and pay tuition. Our Hyderabad school records tag each school with its curriculum so you can filter by board on the School lens.

What we don't claim: full coverage. The school dataset is hand-curated and refreshed annually. If a specific school you care about isn't on the list, it doesn't mean it's bad — it means we haven't ranked it yet.

On the map, the School lens overlays schools as markers and surfaces the ranking on every suburb's verdict card. The catchment line is shown as a layer for the strongest Victorian zones.
