What metro lines does Hyderabad have today?

Transit For Everyone Hyderabad Refreshed 2026-06-04
The short answer

Three lines totalling ~70 km: Red (LB Nagar–Miyapur, 29km), Blue (Nagole–Raidurg, 27km), Green (JBS–MGBS, 11km). They interchange at Ameerpet (Red ↔ Blue) and JBS / MGBS (Blue ↔ Green).

The full answer

Hyderabad Metro Rail opened in stages from 2017 onward. The current network has three lines totalling roughly 70km — one of the largest urban metros in India.

Red Line (29km): LB Nagar (south-east) → Habsiguda → Tarnaka → Secunderabad West (Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station) → Begumpet → Ameerpet → Erragadda → SR Nagar → ESI → KPHB → Miyapur (north-west). The longest line, links the eastern residential areas (Habsiguda, Tarnaka, Uppal-adjacent) with the IT corridor's outer west (KPHB, Miyapur).

Blue Line (27km): Nagole (north-east) → Stadium → Tarnaka (interchange near Red) → Secunderabad East → Begumpet (interchange Red) → Ameerpet (interchange Red) → Punjagutta → Madhapur → Hi-Tech City → Raidurg (terminus, near Cyber Towers / Mindspace). The IT corridor spine.

Green Line (11km): JBS (interchange Blue) → Parade Grounds → Secunderabad → MGBS (interchange Blue). Short connector serving the central / Secunderabad area.

Interchanges: Ameerpet (Red ↔ Blue) is the busiest. JBS and MGBS connect Blue and Green.

What's next: Phase II (tendered November 2024) extends to Financial District and RGIA airport. See the dedicated answer page for that scope.

Practical guidance: the metro is the best-quality rapid transit in the city. If your daily route goes Madhapur ↔ Ameerpet ↔ Begumpet ↔ Punjagutta or LB Nagar ↔ Ameerpet ↔ Begumpet, the metro is the fastest option at peak. Drive times on the same routes can double during 8–10am or 6–9pm.
