Which Hyderabad neighbourhoods have the best public transport?

Public transport in Hyderabad is dominated by three systems: the metro (rapid transit, three lines), MMTS suburban rail (Indian Railways, slower but cheap and reaches further), and TSRTC city buses (extensive coverage but slower and more crowded).

Metro-connected suburbs (rapid transit, the highest-quality option): Madhapur (HITEC City), Hi-Tech City, Raidurg, Ameerpet, Punjagutta, Begumpet, Secunderabad, KPHB, Miyapur, LB Nagar, Habsiguda, Tarnaka, Uppal-adjacent.

MMTS-connected suburbs: Begumpet, Lingampally, Lakdi-ka-Pul, Sanathnagar, Malkajgiri, Bowenpally, Trimulgherry, Sainikpuri-adjacent. MMTS is much cheaper than metro and reaches farther outer suburbs, but trains are less frequent and stations less amenity-rich.

Suburbs without metro or MMTS but with good bus connectivity: Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Manikonda, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Kokapet, Tellapur. These are car-or-share dependent for most journeys; the upcoming Phase II metro Nagole → Financial District spur will partially address this for the south corridor.

What we don't pretend: that public transport in the IT corridor itself is comprehensive. Gachibowli, Kondapur, and Kokapet are heavily car-dependent in 2025. Most IT employers run office shuttles. Daily commuters in these suburbs typically use a mix of office shuttle + Uber/Ola.

If your priority is car-free living: the strongest bet is Begumpet, Ameerpet, Punjagutta, or Madhapur. All have direct metro access plus dense local services within walking distance.
